Love Come Round, A Short and Puzzling Story

All  my life I have wanted to be a filmmaker, an independent movie director who also wrote and acted. I grew up on Charlie Chaplin and Alfred Hitchcock before discovering Spielberg, Zemecksis and later Scorsese, Gilliam and David Lynch.

Lynch has been a huge influence ever since my mother took me to see "Dune" in the theater. I was hooked and have studied Lynch's work closely since. I believe that movies should first and foremost be entertaining. Secondly, movies should be art. Complex. Kathartic.

I made this film in 48 hours for a competition. It remains one of the favorites of all the shorts I have made. We really experimented and did some fun things. It's important to note that the actors were acting in front of a rear projection screen that projected the background live as the actors did their thing in front. It was fun to watch the actors practice over and over again to get the timing just right as some actors were acting to actors who had been recorded earlier!

Visual metaphor is very important to me as is trying to find that shot few have done before. I accomplished both in this short. It's called "Love Come Round" and it was written by Felton Foushee.

Unfortunately the talented actor and producer, Jenny, died of a rare cancer about six months after this was completed. A wonderful woman and singular talent, she was taken just as she was beginning to live. She's missed and this film is dedicated to her.
